Have you always loved Apple Dumplings but been too afraid to make them yourself? Grandma Jennie’s Apple Dumplings are easy to make, just a little time-consuming. Your reward is this warm, flaky, apple-y sweet, drizzled with a sauce (that bakes with them), amazing dessert for you to share with your family!
Start with the sauce. Combine sauce ingredients together in a small pan (2 cups water, 1 cup sugar, 3 Tbsp butter and ¼ tsp cinnamon). Let this simmer while preparing the dumplings, stirring occasionally.
Preheat the oven to 425 degrees. Roll out the pastry. Since I used pre-made rolled pie crusts, I used my rolling pin to make them slightly thinner. Cut the pastry into 6 rectangles.
Combine 2 tsp sugar with 1 ½ tsp cinnamon. Pour over prepared apple slices and stir until lightly coated. Place equal amounts of the apple mixture on each of the 6 squares. Dot each with butter. With slightly wet fingertips, fold the pastry over the apples and seal the edges.
Place each apple dumpling in a dessert bowl or on a dessert plate, and spoon some sauce over the top. Serve warm. Yummy served with whipped cream or ice cream, too! Enjoy! >> Don’t forget to pin it! Click Here! <<
